On Thursday, a judge handed Michael Bever, the 19-year-old Oklahoma man convicted for 2015 killing of his parents and three younger siblings, five consecutive life sentences.

Bever was 16-years-old when he and his older brother Robert Bever were arrested for the killings of their parents, 52-year-old David Bever, 44-year-old April Bever, along with their 5-year-old sister, and two brothers ages 7 and 12, inside the family’s Tulsa home in 2015.

In addition to the life sentences, Michael Bever also convicted of one count of assault and battery with intent to kill his 13-year-old sister, who managed to survive the attack.

The girl later told police that her eldest brothers were responsible for the attack.

Additionally, investigators said the boys had plotted to kill their other 2-year-old sister, who was found unharmed in the home, but their plans were thwarted by authorities.

According to court documents, Robert described to detectives how his brother compelled their siblings to come out of locked rooms during the attack by pretending he was in danger.

Law enforcement officials said Robert Bever sought to garner “notoriety as a serial killer.” He was sentenced to life without parole last year after pleading guilty to murder charges.

Michael Bever had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. However, he was ultimately convicted on all counts following a trial by jury in May.

Attorneys for Bever say they planned to appeal the sentence.
