A fugitive on the Texas Most Wanted list has been apprehended in Mexico as part of a murder investigation in El Paso.

The Texas Department of Public Safety announced on Friday the arrest of 46-year-old Keith Antonio Boynes.

DPS officials said U.S. Marshals arrested Boynes Tuesday in Mexico City.

The fugitive was sought for state and federal charges in connection with the August 2017 murder of a man at the Mesa Inn motel in El Paso and for fleeing prosecution.

Officials revealed the arrest was made after a tip on Boynes’ whereabouts was phoned in.

As a result, the tipster will receive a reward of up to $7,500.

Boynes was subsequently transported to Houston, where he remains in custody awaiting extradition to El Paso.

Additionally, Texas law enforcement officials said Boynes has an extensive criminal history, which includes arrests for sexual assault, aggravated assault, burglary, and weapons offenses.
