A missing teen from Florida was located after she went missing over five years ago when she ran away from home.

Emily Wynell Paul was only 14 when she vanished from her residence in Southport, only leaving behind a letter, according to The News-Herald.

The now 19-year-old wrote a letter to her family recently to let them know that she is safe. Authorities then sent her a message online asking Paul to contact investigators.

The missing teen reportedly reached out to law enforcement on Tuesday and was asked to come to the department to confirm her identity.

“Emily stated she was safe, she had a support system, and she was happy where she was,” authorities said, MyPanhandle reported. “She appeared to be in good health and arrived at the station by herself and left by herself.”

Because she’s an adult, law enforcement officials are not required to disclose her whereabouts to her family.
