Prosecutors in New Jersey have charged a decorated cop with misconduct after passing information about police activity to help suspects he knew to evade arrest and also engaged in sex with a woman wanted for outstanding warrants while on duty.

Gloucester County prosecutors say 41-year-old Monroe Township police Sgt. Jody Collins, who surrendered Friday, is charged with official misconduct, engaging in a pattern of misconduct and computer crimes.

Prosecutors allege in a probable cause statement that between December of 2016 and April of 2018, Collins improperly used his position on multiple occasions to garner information from Gloucester County dispatchers on active warrants for three suspects he knew.

Additionally, Collins allegedly engaged in sex with a female suspect inside his patrol car while on duty instead of arresting the woman.

The 19-year veteran cop in Monroe Township faces numerous counts after he criminal charges after he allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a wanted person in his cruiser and leaked police information to friends and wanted criminals.

The officer also provided the female suspect with information on police activity near her home to help her avoid apprehension, NJ.com reported.

Investigators said the 19-year veteran cop also allegedly paid drug debts to a known drug dealer.

When the investigation began in April, New Jersey law enforcement officials placed Collins on paid leave from the department, where he has served since 1998.

However, Collins was moved to unpaid leave after he was charged last week.

Records show Collins earned an annual salary of $108,000.

It wasn’t known Tuesday if he has retained an attorney who could comment on the charges.
