Two arrested for dismemberment murder of a woman found in NYC park

Police in New York City arrested a man and a woman connection with the brutal dismemberment murder of a 25-year-old female whose body parts were discovered in trash bags dumped in two Bronx parks.

NYPD officials announced the arrests of 31-year-old Bronx resident Daquan Wheeler, on multiple charges including murder, and manslaughter.

Wheeler was arrested along with 30-year-old Ciara Martinez, also of the Bronx, ABC7 reported.

Martinez is charged with several counts including criminal facilitation, obstructing prosecution and concealment of a human corpse.

Passerbys visiting the park discovered three trash bags with dismembered body parts including arms and feet on Tuesday under a pier in Barretto Point Park in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old Lisa Marie Velasquez.

Authorities said two other bags containing the victim’s head and torso were found on Friday about two miles away in Crotona Park.

Investigators determined the woman had been beaten to death.
