Missouri Police charged Carol Ballweg for stealing pain meds from terminally ill daughter to feed her own addiction

A drug-addicted mother in Missouri was caught this week after stealing pain meds from her terminally ill daughter to consume it herself.

Police in Troy, Missouri say 46-year-old Carol Ballweg was the primary caregiver for her 20-year-old daughter, only known as “CM,” and was obliged to give her fentanyl and oxycodone for pain.

Employees at Troy Family Practice reached out to law enforcement on Monday to report “concerns of neglect and drug abuse related to a patient,” according to the New York Post.

They had also made several “hotline” calls about the woman’s care — revealing concerns that Ballweg repeatedly requested for the prescriptions to be filled earlier than required. CM’s home health provider also expressed concern.

Physicians then decided to test CM’s urine and discovered no traces of her prescribed drugs in her system — causing them to stop filling her medication.

Meanwhile, as her mother took the pills, investigators said her helpless daughter contracted bed sores, which can be life-threatening.

Police carried out a search warrant at Ballweg’s residence on Tuesday — when she admitted up to having an opioid addiction and taking the medications herself.

She has been charged with four counts of stealing a controlled substance and two counts of abuse of a disabled or vulnerable person.

The judge set her bond at $100,000, ordered that she no longer have contact with her daughter.
