Grand jury indicts Emily Weinman, who was punched by cops during violent Jersey shore arrest for assaulting a police officer

Prosecutors have indicted a Philadelphia woman whose violent arrest at a Jersey shore beach over the Memorial Day weekend was captured on video for assaulting a police officer.

Officials said a grand jury in Cape May County indicted Emily Weinman on multiple counts including aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, throwing bodily fluids and obstruction of justice, The New York Post reported.

The encounter occurred after officers approached Weinman about the presence of alcoholic beverages on the beach.

A confrontation ensued after Weinman repeatedly refused to give Wildwood officers her name.

A beachgoer captured the incident on a cell phone video showing one of the officers punching her twice in the head while she is laying restrained in the sand.

Authorities reviewed the police body-cam footage and the cell phone video before subsequently clearing the cops of any wrongdoing.

In July, Weinman rejected a plea deal.
