Florida authorities arrested a local police officer for allegedly selling opioids out of his patrol car.

Agents arrested 48-year-old Dwayne White, a police officer in the Panhandle town of Bonifay Saturday, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

Officials with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Saturday that an investigation was initiated last month at the request of the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.

The FDLE said agents made a controlled purchase of opioid tablets from White, who was selling narcotics while in uniform out of his marked squad car.

Authorities said White also used his personal cell phone to conduct drug deals.

White was charged with selling a controlled substance and unlawful use of a two-way communications device.

The officer remains in custody on no bail awaiting a court hearing.
