Bid to have $3 million bond reduced for rapper Mystikal denied by judge

A Lousiana judge ruled last week against decreasing a $3 million bail for rapper Mystikal

The 48-year-old New Orleans-based rapper, whose real name is Michael Lawrence Tyler, has spent the past year behind bars at Caddo Correctional Center awaiting trial on one count of first-degree rape and second-degree abduction.

His next hearing date has been scheduled for October 25th.

Tyler’s defense attorney had filed a motion with Caddo Parish Judge Romana Emanuel requested that the rapper’s bail is reduced to $500,000, KSLA reported.

Mystikal entered a not guilty plea to the charges stemming from an alleged sexual assault in 2016 at a downtown Shreveport casino.

Two other suspects including Darnell Holman was also indicted in the case on charges of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping, while Tenichia Monieck Wafford was charged with on one count of obstruction of justice.
