The notorious female drug trafficker known as “La Muñeca” who fled from the U.S. before her sentencing hearing for a cartel smuggling conspiracy, has been extradited back to Texas.

According to the El Paso Times, 41-year-old Ana Marie Hernandez, who is also known by the nickname ‘La Muñeca,’ was apprehended by Mexican officials in 2015 after she escaped from the U.S. almost five years before.

Hernandez, who was married to a former U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agent Daniel Ledezma, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to import a controlled substance – specifically cocaine – and another count of aiding and abetting the bribery of an official – specifically Ledezma.

Hernandez was subsequently charged in the cartel bribery.

She was scheduled to be sentenced in 2011, but fled to Mexico for four years before being she was recaptured again in 2015.

She faces up to life behind bars for drug trafficking and another 10-year sentence for the bribery charge.
